2006 & 2008 MENS DIV III PRU CHAMPIONS
Western Suburbs Christmas Pub Crawl
Lame excuses about office parties, going out of town, or going out to dinner with the wife, or the best one,
I have to go to the ballet, will not be accepted. We always have a strong turnout, and this is the year for everyone to attend.
The plan: Starting at Uncle Julio's we will move down the street in a controlled and orderly fashion visiting as many bars as the night will allow or we are allowed into.
The rules: I know I say this every year but it bears repeating No wives, No girlfriends, No women you work with, and No chicks that hang around at rugby games.
Where to stay: Hyatt Regency Hotel 1800 Presidents Dr 703.709.1234
And, as always, at Elvis' direction, the uniform of the evening will be Santa Hats (the more bizarre, the better), Hawaiian shirt and rugby shorts or short pants.
This is open to all WSRFC members, past, present, young and old.
Save the Date
The Savannah St. Patrick's Day Rugby Tournament is scheduled for March 14-15. Typically, the club heads down on Thursday, plays golf on Friday, plays rugby on Saturday and Sunday and then stumbles home on Monday.
New Match Secretary
Stephen "Zimba" Cleary resigned as Match Secretary. Zimba set us up with a great fall season and the role has been passed to Carter "Hodor" Simmons

Round 1 Match Results
Western Suburbs kicked off their matrix season with a double home game against North Bay RFC. The D4 side faced temperatures over 90 degrees and a solid North Bay D4 side; our side went down in defeat 0-38. The D3 side kicked off around 2 PM and the heat was still a factor, but the team was firing on all cylinders. The backs and the forwards were putting in the work all over the field and we emerged victorious with a score of 17-5. The Man of the Match for the D4 game was Alex "Pie" Galcius, he played passion the entire game and urged his teammates on as well. Rob Ware, the new team captain, earned Man of the Match for the D3 game with strong runs and powerful tackling. The Hardest Worker was awarded to "The Blair" Hubbell for his amazing 80 minutes of effort on the pitch.
Field Officer Election Results
Western Suburbs would like to thank the outgoing Field Officers, Jeff "Stax" Carrington, John "OD" O'Donnell, Drew Cartwright, and Rob Ware, for faithfully performing their duties to the club for the last year.
Our coaching staff, Stax and OD, received a strong vote of confidence when they were reelected to their positions as head and assistant coach, respectively. Several players were nominated to serve as captain, they were Patrick "Turtle" Robinson, Rob Ware, Bryan "Snooki" Dyer, and Matt "Lobo" Parr; after the votes were counted, Rob Ware emerged victorious as captain. The position of selector also saw several nominees including Danta "D" Moore, "Big" Steve Busch, Lance Nichols, Jon Carter, "Steve-O" Mongin, Tim "Teabag" Bultemeier, Blair Hubbell, Turtle, and Jeff "Bushy" Bush. In the end, Patrick "Turtle" Robinson emerged as team selector. Thirty-six club members attended the team meeting.

The field status is updated daily at 3 PM here. If Poplar Tree Park is closed, then we will have practice at Panzer Pitch at 6 PM.
