Round 2 Match Results
This week found Western Suburbs taking it on the road against Rappahannock and Pax River RFCs in cool, rainy conditions. Holding onto the ball was problem in the D3 game so there were tons of knock-ons, bad passes and lost balls. Matthew "Lobo" Parr left the game early with an injury to his hip. In the end, the D3 side went down in defeat, 17-20. The Man of the Match was SteveO Mongin and the Hardest Worker was Big Steve Busch.
The conditions were similar for the D4 side. Additionally, they travelled light on numbers. The first half was a back and forth contest between the two teams, but injuries helped overcome our D4 side. Bushy took a knee to the kidneys and allegedly spent the next few hours urinating blood; Isaac Leeth, a new recruit, got so concussed that he wasn't sure which state he was in. While playing down, the D4 side fought the entire match, but went down in defeat, 12-51. The Man of the Match was Glen Janson.
Sam Rowan had a lot of roles when it came to Western Suburbs RFC. He supported us on the field as a sponsor, he supported us off the field as a doctor and fan, and he was friends with many of us. On August 27th, Sam Rowan passed away. Many of us will be traveling tomorrow and unable attend his service, but take a moment to sign his guestbook here and pass on your condolences.
